Loving The 4 Hour Work Week
It never worked until recently — Personal experience running a digital business full time.
Often heard and read critiques that Tim Ferris the author “The 4 Hour Work Week” gets for this book.
Well, I was critical at him for quite a time. In fact it now makes perfect sense that the “four hour work” week is not everybody’s. It wasn’t for me at first and I’ll explain why.
So, I never understood the concept because I was working 16 hours a day sometime more at my startup. Looking back, I realise the commitments for building an app was the hardest for me EVER!
And No I don’t have a degree myself…I had dropped out of college. Because most dropouts had one trait in common — they were rich, that’s why we know Mark Zurkerbug Today.
Either ways… With the app I never felt anything could escape me because the fire was burning through my eyes.
BUT…the unthinkable happened!
A global crises — Covid 19 — Hit, Colleges shut down, stores closed and streets become clear. To a guy who was on the early stages of a startup. Everything spiraled down out of control.
Without knowing what to do. I stuck around doing odd things no one wanted.
On one occasion I was going through my emails without much to do. It was evening around 5 PM… When I received an invitation to alive workshop that would completely change my life.
I went on with my ugly grind making cold-calls to people who had broken websites that needed repair. And people that didn’t have a website…. It wasn’t as cool, it sucked. Often people were screaming at me over the phone or be rude and hang up.
Two days later, 5PM I would pick it up where I left off…Checking my emails. And that’s when I started noticing something new with this emails. The frequency & timing was right with a constant reminder to attend the workshop . I had seen not one or two but a dozen notification and it made perfect sense to attend, so I did.
THE REAL AHA MOMENT?
Inside the workshop… The instructor revealed the secrets that contributed to his millions. The system was responsible for grossing sales of $220 Million over his career. You learn more here
I was hooked from that point on. I acquired the materials and started implementing it. And boy was the strategy accurate.
DISCOVERING THE 4 HOUR WORK WEEK
It was until in recent weeks that I discovered I had ample time for my own. Literary not even having a crew what to do. I even felt guilty at some point.
Tim was right when he touched on Automation. First off… I’m not advocating automation for shoptify or ecommerce or anything that involves physical products. I haven’t done those myself. To my experience working with digital products is easy and fast.
See, every business whether it’s private or government requires these two things to thrive… It needs Traffic + Offer(s).
Traffic is the putting your business out there to find the right customers. This is the blood and life of every business.
With traffic you can now direct the customers to an offer in exchange for money. The best a part about this business model that I discovered is that you ain’t got to create a product. In fact you can leverage other people’s products.
So you might be wondering how did I get the free time with all these stuff going on? -
Let’s start with traffic.
Traffic is in other people’s command. I want you think that for a second. I don’t have to create it all you got to do is acquire it from people or networks where they hang out. A few examples could be:
- Blogs & forums
- Google & Bing
- Solo Ads (one of my favourite traffic source)
But how do get these people to see & interact with your business on autopilot?
It’s simple. Set up the two page. One that collects email and the other presents the offer(whether the offer is yours or other people’s).
And that’s it.
Normally, I only pay for my traffic supplier with soloads for my business using the simple system as outlined in this article here. This builds me the time & financial freedom that I never had.
Conclusion.
You don’t have to be an expat to start. Or have to invest a lot of time in order to get results. Far from it all you need is internet connection and be open to follow a few steps with only 1 hour a day.
